Frankenstein
"Dr. Frankenstein dares to tamper with life and death by creating a human monster out of lifeless body parts."
The sculpt will include a lot of asymmetrical body parts and features to really push the idea that he is made from different body parts. There will also be a lot of veiny and wrinkly texture included because his skin is supposed to be loose and decomposing in certain areas. The sculpt will also include stitches, nails, and staples. In most traditional interpretations of Frankenstein's monster, his head is very rectangular so I will include that in the sculpt. The rest of his body is very lanky but tall. He is supposed to look like he shambles as he moves. |
I was unhappy with the first go at Frankenstein, as the purpose ended up muddled. I attempted another sculpt with a more stylized approach. This one is a less asymmetrical but more recognizable as Frankenstein.
The Phantom
"An acid-scarred composer rises from the Paris sewers to boost his favorite opera understudy's career."
The sculpt is relatively simple compared to Frankenstein, but will include a lot more detail in the facial area. Half his face is acid scarred, but I like the interpretations where his mask only covers about 1/3 of his face. The contrast between his beautiful features and the burn would be interesting to sculpt. Most interpretations, he is wearing a suit so his body cannot be seen. I'd like to try sculpting him when he was still living in the sewers, so he would be wearing less clothing that reveals his skin underneath. Based on his origin, it would be quite mangled by the acid and I imagine vermins from the sewer. He would probably have disease-ridden portions as well. But overall I'd still like to try to keep the asymmetry in his design. |
